"I'm truly following in my mom's footsteps, and I'm loving every minute of it!"

Nearly a year after my Challenge, my life is still as great as it was when I finished. Body-for-LIFE has really changed me inside and out. Not only is my appearance different but so is my mind. The things that used to interest me partying, eating greasy hamburgers don't appeal to me anymore. Since the Challenge, I've really focused on my studies, and my grades show it.

Body-for-LIFE has also opened other paths for me. For instance, I'm now a personal trainer and coach to my grandma. Every Sunday, my grandma and I meet for an hour of weight training. It's the highlight of my week and has brought us closer together. I guess my mom and I can say we take after my grandma because she's just as strong, if not stronger, than both of us.

I've also been serving as coach and mentor to many of my sorority sisters. Sometimes we discuss Body-for-LIFE into the wee hours of the morning. Everyone is interested in what I did and how. A couple of friends have made amazing Transformations themselves. It's a great feeling to know you've made a difference in other people's lives.

All in all, Body-for-LIFE has been an incredibly positive experience. But it has changed some of my friendships. Some people don't realize that Body-for-LIFE alters not only your body but also your mind and soul, and your entire outlook. I am not the Alexa I once was. I'm not the party girl without a care in the world. I am now an accomplished woman with a greater sense of responsibility and discipline and lots of goals and hopes for the future.

Because of this change, some of my friendships have suffered. Some of the people I used to party with miss the "old Alexa." And frankly, we have drifted apart. I still have the same personality, but my priorities have changed, and it's difficult for others to accept that. This is part of growing up, I guess, and becoming more mature, and Body-for-LIFE certainly helped speed that process.

If I've lost some old friends, I've made many new ones. On my Body-for-LIFE journey, I met some incredible people. I could not have completed the Challenge without the love and support of my fellow Body-for-LIFE-ers at Gold's Gym in Omaha. They are like family to me, coaching me, encouraging me and watching me blossom through this whole experience. I thrive on their support. Of course, my boyfriend and my mom were terrific. I think my boyfriend was surprised by my determination. If he ever had any doubt, he now knows that if I put my mind to something. I will for sure do it, and do it well.

As for the Body-for-LIFE program, it has become a lifestyle for me. Since completing the Challenge, I've been able to maintain my weight. And those size 4 pants? They fit! But I do allow myself a little more freedom from time to time to indulge my sweet tooth and eat foods that are more delicious than nutritious. That's the awesome thing about this program: Once you've done it and you know it works, it becomes something you adhere to no matter what. I've grown to love weight training, but I still struggle with my cardio. I don't think I'll ever like it, but I realize how important it is for a well-rounded fitness program and for keeping my metabolism humming.

In keeping with the Universal Law of Reciprocation, I've shared my knowledge with anyone who asks for help. So I guess I'm truly following in my mom's footsteps, and I'm loving every minute of it!
